Meta Tags
Meta tags are element in the web development process that
provide search engines with information about the website. Meta tags are
snippets of HTML code that are inserted into the header section of a web page,
and contain information such as the page title, description, keywords, and
author. Meta tags are invisible to users who visit the website, but search
engines use them to determine the relevance and ranking of a web page in search
results.
According to Liu, He, and Wang (2019), meta tags play a big
role in search engine optimization (SEO), which is the process of optimizing a
website to rank higher in search engine results pages. By including relevant
keywords in meta tags, website owners can improve their website’s visibility
and attract more organic traffic. It is essential to choose appropriate
keywords that accurately describe the content of the web page and avoid keyword
stuffing, which can harm the website’s ranking.
Mishra (2019) suggest, search engines have become more
advanced and can now recognize the value of the content on a web page.
Therefore, website owners must prioritize creating high-quality content that is
relevant, engaging, and helpful to their audience.
In conclusion, meta tags are essential to the SEO process,
but they should not be the sole focus. By carefully choosing relevant keywords
and creating informative content, website owners can improve their website’s
ranking and attract more traffic.
